Pre-Engineering Program (PREP) provides students from Educational Talent Search, Strive Toward Excellence Program, Upward Bound Classic, and Upward Bound Math and Science with hands-on experiences and activities to prepare them for careers in engineering. 

Program Objectives:

  1. Identify, select and recruit students from Educational Talent Search, Strive Toward Excellence Program, Upward Bound Classic, and Upward Bound Math and Science who demonstrate the potential for success in engineering.
  2. Increase students' awareness of career options for engineers and applied scientists.
  3. Provide hands-on learning opportunities designed to generate excitement about mathematics, science and engineering.
  4. Encourage the completion of the necessary college-preparatory courses to equip students for college engineering courses.

Summer Component: There is a six-week summer enrichment program that includes workshops conducted by engineering professors and/or graduate students from The University of Akron with an emphasis on mechanical, electrical and civil engineering.

Requirements:

You must be a current participant of Educational Talent Search, Strive Toward Excellence Program, Upward Bound Classic or Upward Bound Math and Science.
