Learning Outcomes
Students will demonstrate the ability to locate various primary and secondary source material and evaluate its validity and effectiveness.
Students will demonstrate the ability to create a draft outline, thesis statement and modify arguments as project progresses.
Students will demonstrate the ability to articulate a clearly defined argument, utilize relevant evidence and organize main points in a coherent and effective structure.

Degree Distribution Requirements
This curriculum guide is a recommended plan of study. Students with questions about degree requirements should contact an academic advisor.
3400:250 and 3400:251 are strongly recommended for majors; one of these courses will complete half of the social science General Education requirement.
3400:221 is recommended to complete one of two Humanities elective courses.
Students must complete two courses in each of the three fields. Please see and adviser for a supplemental sheet listing of courses in each field.
32 credits are required in History, excluding Humanities and World Civilizations courses. At least 16 credits toward the History major must be at the 300/400 level, of which a minimum of 6 credits must be at the 400 level, and in two different fields.
7700:101, 102, 201, 202 and 222 may be substituted for modern Languages (35xx) courses.
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 128 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
