Learning Outcomes
Students will meet writing criteria: organization of a paper, use of English (grammar, vocabulary of discipline) and internal consistency of an argument.
Students will have the ability to conduct primary or secondary research.
Students will demonstrate progression towards writing in political science: produce a coherent narrative, write an expository essay, conform with political science writing guidelines.
Students will be able to produce falsifiable hypotheses.

3470:250 Statistics for Everyday Life or 3470:260 Basic Statistics is recommended.
Only one instance (3 credits) of 3700:392 Selected Topics in Political Science may be used toward the completion of the major.
3700:395 Internship in Government and Politics is recommended but not required for the major. Students wishing to do an internship should consult with the Bliss Institute of Applied Politics while planning their experience. A student may earn 2-9 credits for the internship, though only 4 credits will count toward the completion of the major.
7700:101, 102, 201, 202 and 222 may be substituted for Modern Languages: Any 35xx courses.
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 128 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
