Learning Outcomes
Graduates will understand general theory, and gain experience in applying that theory to solving statistical problems and analyzing data.
Graduates gain competence in planning and designing experiments, gathering and analyzing data, and reporting results.
Students will learn to read and critically appraise statistical and research literature, and reports of research results in the popular media.
Students will learn to communicate statistical ideas in written and oral forms.

Degree Distribution Requirements

Complete 9 credits of coursework outside the major and beyond the General Education requirements in a suitable area of concentration as approved by the department. Complete 18 credits of humanities or social sciences beyond the General Education requirements. The 18 credits are to be from more than one department.
7700:101, 102, 201, 202 and 222 may be substituted for Modern Language (35xx) courses.
3470:495 Statistical Consulting is offered for 1-3 credits. Students should take this course for 2 credits (Spring Year 4).
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 128 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
