Degree Distribution Requirements
This curriculum guide is a recommended plan of study. Students with questions about degree requirements should contact an academic advisor.
3400:221 Humanities in the World Since 1300 may be substituted for 3400:210 Humanities in the Western Tradition.
7500:471 Counterpoint may be substituted for 7500:353 Electronic Music.
Class Piano I, Class Piano II and Intro to Theory are not counted toward the degree program total. These classes are required or excused per entrance placement.
7520 Applied Music classes must be your Primary Instrument.
The Concert Band, University Band or University Symphony Orchestra may be substituted for Symphonic Band.
Three hours of the Music History credits may be applied to the Humanities requirement.
Completion of the 400 level Applied Music courses is required prior to graduation.
Students are encouraged to take 2 credits of 7500:497 Indp Study:Music during fall of Year 4.
7500:415 Teaching and Literature of Brass Instruments is offered on an every other year basis. Please consult with an adviser for additional information.
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 129 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
