Degree Distribution Requirements
This curriculum guide is a recommended plan of study. Students with questions about degree requirements should contact an academic advisor.
7400:494: Intern: Family & Consumer Sci may be taken for 1 - 6 credits. Students are encouraged to take 5 credits during spring semester of Year 4.
*Students should meet with an adviser for course options.
Student should choose one of the following options: 1) Completion of 14 hours of a foreign language sequence, preferably in a language in high demand, such as Spanish or American Sign Language. 2) Completion of a minor/certificate program or 14 hours of coursework in a related area. Please refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin for a list of related minors/certificate programs. 3) Completion of 8 hours of a foreign language and 6 hours from a related area. Contact a Family and Consumer Science adviser for further information.
7400:303 Children as Consumers may be substituted for 7400:301 Consumer Education.
Contact Family and Consumer Science your freshman year. There are several opportunities for additional minors and certificates to be completed within the degree requirements.
A current TB test and a thorough criminal background check (BCI/fingerprinting) are conducted in 7400:265 Child Development. The background check may reveal a student's unsealed and sealed criminal record.
3400:221 Humanities in the World Since 1300 may be substituted for 3400:210 Humanities in the Western Tradition.
7400:485 Sem: Family & Consumer Science may be taken for 1-3 credits. Students are encouraged to take 3 credits.
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 128 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
