Degree Distribution Requirements

128 credits are required to graduate.
Natural Sciences requirements include earning a min of 64 credits in natural sciences and/or engineering or polymer science, 27 of which must be at the 300/400 level, 27 credits in one area of the natural sciences, 16 credits with at least 2 credits at the 300/400 level from another discipline: biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, mathematics, physics, polymer science or statistics, and a third area comprised of 16 credits of these disciplines or at least 8 credits in each of two other two disciplines.
Minimum mathematics requirement is 3450:149 Precalculus. Courses for the natural sciences major must be selected with the approval of an adviser.
Primary Area: Earn at least 27 credits from one of the departments in the Natural Science Division: biology, chemistry, computer science, geology and environmental science, mathematics, physics or statistics.
Area 1: Earn at least 16 credits from one of the disciplines of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, mathematics, physics, polymer science or statistics (excludes disciplines designated as Primary Area and Area 2).
Area 2: Earn at least 16 credits from another one (excludes discipline selected as Area 1) of the disciplines of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, mathematics, physics, polymer science or statistics (excludes disciplines designated as Primary Area and Area 1) ; or earn 16 credits from 2 disciplines (excludes disciplines designated as Primary Area and Area 1) to include 8 credits in each selected discipline.
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 128 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
