3400:221 Humanities in the World Since 1300 may be substituted for 3400:210 Humanities in the Western Tradition.
3300:389 ST: Literature & Language may be substituted for 3300:362 World Literatures.
3370:102 Introductory Historical Geology may be substituted for 3370:101 Introductory Physical Geology.
3650:401 Everyday Physics may be substituted for 3650:261 Physics for Life Sciences I.
3100:111 Principles of Biology may be substituted for 3100:103 Natural Science Biology.
3400:251 U.S. History Since 1877 or 3400:250 U.S. History to 1877 may be substituted for 3700:100 Government & Politics in the U.S.
A 2.5 GPA is required to be admitted to the Teacher Education Program.
Eight credits of Natural Science are required to transfer to the College of Education. Middle Level-Science Concentration majors are advised to take 3100:111 Principles of Biology in place of 3100:103. Please see the Undergraduate Bulletin for the remaining four credits of this requirement. Students who choose to take Principles of Biology, however, must meet other pre-requisites for enrolling in Principles of Biology.
Social Science Requirement: 6 credits of Social Studies are required both to graduate and to transfer to the College of Education. Students must complete one of the following courses to fulfill half of this requirement: 3400:250 U.S. History to 1877 or 3400:251 U.S. History Since 1877 or 3700:100 Government & Politics in the U.S.
A grade of C or better is required in all pre-admission coursework regardless of when a student began college.
Computer literacy requirement: A passing score on the computer literacy exam or completion of one of the following computer classes listed in the next note at a B or better is required for final acceptance into the College of Education Teacher Education Program. The exam tests the following: creating, saving, naming skills, basic word processing skills, basic e-mail and internet skills.
Copies of "What's on the Computer Literary Assessment" are available in the College of Education, Office of Student Services, Zook Hall 207. If you do not pass the computer literacy test after two attempts, you must complete one of the following courses and earn a grade of B or better prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program: 2440:105(3) Introduction to Computers & Application Software; 7500:298(2) Technologies of Music Education.
Some education courses require additional field or service learning hours.
The following credit hour requirements apply to this degree: 128 minimum total credits; 32 credits in residence; the final 32 credits must be taken from The University of Akron.
