Mechanical Engineering (MS)

Master's students in mechanical engineering earn 30 semester credits (32 semester credits for the non-thesis option) of work beyond the baccalaureate degree. Each student is paired with a faculty adviser whose activities parallel his or her own interests, and together they design an individualized program of study. Course requirements are therefore based on personal goals, while also providing coherent, in-depth study of a particular area of mechanical engineering.

Applications to the master's program in Mechanical Engineering are accepted on a rolling basis.

Additional Information

Main areas of graduate study in mechanical engineering include systems and controls, engineering mechanics, materials, and thermal-fluid sciences. Students in the department are encouraged to take at least one mechanical engineering course outside the main area of interest to develop some breadth in their graduate education.
