Elementary Education - Literacy Option

This program leading to a Master of Arts in Elementary Education is for elementary school teachers. Students complete foundation courses in education and in curriculum and instruction, and an area of concentration such as literacy, multicultural, middle, or elementary education. As a culminating activity, students apply theory to practice in their area of concentration through creative critical thinking.


Admission Requirements

  • Hold a valid teaching license
  • Submit an Application for Admission to a Teacher Education Program for holders of a teaching certificate/license who wish to complete an additional licensure or endorsement (Contact the College of Education Office of Student Services at (330) 972-7750)

Application Deadline

Applications to the master's degree program in Elementary Education - Literacy Option are accepted on a rolling basis.

Assistantship/Scholarship Information

Not all departments offer graduate assistantships. Students should inquire with the department directly to determine assistantship availability.
