Admission Requirements

Communication

The School of Communication offers the Master of Arts degree in a coordinated program of communication arts. Graduate students are able to obtain professional-quality applied communication experience in their areas of interest and expertise.

Students may join student organizations that provide contact and networking with professionals, such as the League of Black Communicators, Public Relations Student Society of America, The Association for Women in Communications, and the student chapter of The American Society for Training and Development.



Admission Requirements

Requirements for admission consideration are:

  1. Meet the general University's admission requirements for the Graduate School;
  2. Have an undergraduate major in communication, journalism, or related field (If you do not have a major in communication or a related field, you will be admitted only upon completion of a program of undergraduate coursework determined by the faculty); and
  3. Submit an essay of no more than 500 words detailing why you are interested in graduate study in communication at Akron.
