History (MA)

Graduate students in history at The University of Akron work individually with faculty who are active researchers as well as accomplished teachers. Akron Advantage

The pursuit of a master's degree in history provides rigorous intellectual stimulation and an apprenticeship in the historical profession. The practical research and writing experience provided by the M.A. curriculum hones and matures the intellect, preparing degree-holders for a wide range of career options including (but not limited to) further study in history. While many graduates of the M.A. program go on to earn the Ph.D., or to attend law school, others teach high school, manage historical societies and archives, work in museums and libraries, or in various forms of public service.
