Statistics is the discipline that deals with the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data. It can be applied to a wide array of academic areas, from biology, chemistry and anthropology to geography, political science and sociology. Because it is used as a basis for logical, informed decisions, statistics has wide application in the public and private, profit and nonprofit sectors of society.

Our B.S., B.A. and M.S. graduates will be prepared for advanced studies in statistics and related disciplines and for the diverse uses of statistics in business, industry, government, scientific research and society.
Career Outlook
The demand for statisticians is currently high and growing. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of nonacademic jobs for statisticians is expected to increase through 2016. Furthermore, colleges and universities will be hiring more faculty members in statistics fields. Salaries and opportunities for advancement are competitive and reflect the current demand.
