Office of Accessibility
Faculty Rights
Faculty Have the Right To:
- Request verification of student's eligibility for any requested accommodations. Verification is in the form of an accommodation letter, written by a Disability Specialist from the Access Office and delivered to you by the student. The Office of Accessibility is the only office designated to review disability documentation and determine eligibility for appropriate accommodations. If this disability documentation (rather than the accommodation letter) is presented directly to you, please refer the student to the Access Office. Faculty should not review the primary documentation.
- Expect the student to initiate accommodation requests. The student is encouraged by the Access Office to present the accommodation letter to you during the first two weeks of the semester.
- Expect the student and the Access Office to work with you to coordinate the provision of the appropriate accommodations.
