Alternative Text Assistant

  • Work one-on-one with students with disabilities
  • Convert textbooks into alternative format
  • Train students to use alternative textbooks, equipment and computer software

Student Assistant

Student assistants answer phones, greet people, photocopy and fax, run errands on campus, cover note taking assignments and/or test proctoring assignments when needed, work on computer using Microsoft Office, read textbooks to record on tape, work one-on-one with students teaching and monitoring the use of effective study strategies.

Note taker

Note takers are to attend all class sessions and take legible, comprehensive notes which are provided to the student at the end of each class.

Test Proctor

Test Proctors are to perform the following functions: read tests/exams to the student, write the answers, which are dictated by the student, onto the test/exam, monitor a test site to ensure no misconduct occurs during the testing session.

Personal Reader

Personal Reader works one-on-one with a visually impaired student to assist him/her in accessing course material. The reader will read course material to the student and tape record the sessions.
