
Project Description
Through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, The University of Akron is offering training for teachers from eligible Northeast Ohio districts, who work with English learners.
| Option 1 |
Teachers will complete the full Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Endorsement (22 credits) This option is for teachers who want to add the TESOL endorsement to their credentials. |
| Option 2 |
Teachers will complete a streamlined training consisting of three TESOL courses (9 credits) This option is for teachers who are not seeking the endorsement but are looking to improve their instruction for ELs. STEM and Special Education teachers may be more interested in this option. |

Eligibility
Applicants must be employed as a licensed teacher by one of the participating school districts. Preference will be given to science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and special education teachers.
Non-native speakers of English must meet English proficiency requirements.
Program Benefits
If accepted into the program, the grant will pay the associated Ohio resident tuition and most of the fees for the TESOL courses.
