The Sixty Plus (60+) Program
There are many benefits to maturity, and our Sixty Plus (60+) Program is certainly one of them. If you are a curious, vibrant adult age 60 or older, you'll want to explore this option. The program is for those simply interested in taking classes, not earning a degree. Those who qualify may attend classes on a noncredit basis for free. All tuition and course fees are waived. Students are, however, expected to pay for books, lab fees and any other classroom-associated costs. Have you always had a secret desire to study Russian or social psychology? Conquer computers? Master an art? Here's your chance.
Branch Campuses
There's no need to tell you that adults with family commitments and jobs have full schedules. Those who live outside the Akron area may find commuting to campus too time consuming. That's why we've set up branch campuses. Our largest branch campus is Wayne College in the Wayne County community of Orrville. We also hold classes at Brunswick High School and Nordonia High School in northern Summit County.
Web Learning
The University of Akron is coming to a computer near you. We currently offer graduate-level courses for teachers. The Mindleaders e-learning program through Time- Warner/Road Runner can train you online for an information systems specialty. A handful of continuing education classes are now held online with more to come in the near future.
