This information is for new freshman applicants. All others should return to the
admissions home page and click on the appropriate category for which you are seeking admission (e.g. Transfer, Graduate).
All graduates of regionally accredited Ohio high schools who take the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) are eligible to apply to UA for admission. You also must have passed the Ohio Graduation Test. Out-of-state applicants will be admitted on the basis of their high school record and scores on the ACT or SAT entrance exams.

The application procedures for new freshman are as follows.
First: Complete the Admission Application. Be sure to fill in all the spaces. Also, check the "new freshman" box at the top of the application.
Second: Submit the Admission Application with a nonrefundable $30 application fee payable to The University of Akron. If you previously paid, do not pay again.
Third: Submit additional application materials according to your status listed below.
1. If you are under age 21, submit your high school transcripts or GED results, ACT or SAT test score results and
College Prep Form.
2. If you are age 21 or older, submit your high school transcript or GED results.

The University of Akron suggests at minimum the college prep curriculum below:
English - four units
Mathematics - three units
Natural Science - three units
Social Science - three units
Foreign Language - two units
If you are planning to concentrate in an area that demands an understanding of advanced mathematics and sciences, we suggest you take additional high school courses in these areas. A fourth year of mathematics is recommended for those who plan to major in engineering, natural science, computer science and business. Potential engineering and natural science majors should complete biology, chemistry, physics and a fourth year of science. Additional credits in math and science also are recommended for nursing majors.
