Financial Aid and Scholarships How to apply for financial aid The University of Akron requires applicants to use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may get a FAFSA packet from your high school guidance counselor at the beginning of January each year, or from UA's Office of Student Financial Aid. You also can apply online at FAFSA.
The completed FAFSA should be mailed by March 1 for priority consideration. Make sure UA gets a financial analysis report by writing UA's code number where indicated on the FAFSA. The code number for UA is 003123.
Some general hints: apply early, use accurate information, copy tax returns in case you are asked for them and immediately report any changes in your financial circumstances to the financial aid office so they may make note of them.
How to apply for scholarships The University of Akron recognizes outstanding students with academic scholarships totaling more than $9 million. The University’s Academic Scholarship Program is generally open to new freshmen, regardless of intended major, who are in the top 30 percent of their graduating classes and/or who scored well on the ACT and/or SAT.
Students can apply for University-wide scholarships online at Scholarships. The deadline is March 1.
If you are in the top 10 percent of your high school class or have admissions test scores in the top 10 percent nationwide, you may qualify for admission into Honors College with its own scholarship opportunities. For information, visit www.uakron.edu/honors, or call 330-972-7966.
