| Our Student Body: |
We have 24,704 students representing 44 U.S. states and 79 foreign countries. They're a culturally diverse group and they come from a broad economic spectrum. |
| The Campus: |
The University of Akron is a vibrant community within metropolitan Akron, with more than 80 buildings on 218 acres.
Our "New Landscape for Learning" program has added 30 acres of green space and 11 new buildings, including a Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Student Union, Honors Complex, classroom buildings and parking decks.
In 2007, we opened the Exchange Street Residence Hall, providing apartment-style living for up to 500 students. Plans are under way for the Zips to open the 2009 football season in a brand new, on-campus, multi-use stadium. |
| Academic Choices: |
Students at UA can choose from more than 200 undergraduate majors and areas of study. UA also has more than 110 master's and doctoral programs, a law degree with four tracks and an accelerated medical education offered in partnership with the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. |

We have more than 735 full-time faculty members, about 84 percent hold a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their fields. |

| The Academic Year: |
We have two 15-week semesters, the first beginning in August and the second in January. There also is an optional 15-week summer semester. |
| Tuition and Costs: |
Full-time tuition is $8,382.96 for two semesters for Ohio residents; parking is $220 per academic year. The surcharge for nonresident students is $308.27 per credit hour. For books and supplies, estimate about $950.00 for the academic year. Summit College is $6,915.60 for two semesters for Ohio residents. For nonresident students in Summit College the surcharge is $290.83 per credit hour. (All tuition, fees and estimates are subject to change. Based on your class selection, academic level and major, you may be assessed miscellaneous fees.) |
| Room Fees and Meal Plans: |
Room costs are $4,955.00 per academic year (two semesters) and up, depending on the location per academic year. Meal plan options cost from $2,582.00 to $3,171.00 per academic year, depending on the number of meals chosen. |
| Intercollegiate Sports: |
We have 19 NCAA Division I-A Intercollegiate Athletic teams for men and women that compete in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). |
