The University of Akron offers an insurance plan for those who do not have health insurance. Information and enrollment forms for this plan may be obtained at the information center in the Office of International Programs and Student Health Services.
You do not have to purchase The University of Akron's major medical student health insurance. However, you are required to have major medical health insurance comparable to that offered by The University of Akron. You must be covered by major medical health insurance for the full semester that you are attending. To register for classes, it is necessary to submit proof of major medical health insurance to the Office of International Programs via:

Visiting scholars/researchers who are temporary employees of The University of Akron should contact their respective departments to make sure that a Personnel Action Form (PAF) has been completely processed. If a student is on Optional Practical Training, he/she must show proof that the employer provides health insurance.
