Online Admission Application Instructions

To keep your information confidential, the Admission Application runs on a secure server. Your Admission Application will be reviewed and information forthcoming regarding your admission.

Type of Student

Application Procedures

  1. Complete and submit the Admission Application. Be sure to fill in all the required information.
  2. Submit a nonrefundable $30 application fee to The University of Akron.
    If you include your e-mail address on the online Admission Application, you will have an opportunity to pay the $30 application fee online. If you paid previously, do not pay again.
  3. Submit additional application materials according to your Applicant Status listed below.
  4. If you are interested in applying to the Honors College, visit Honors.
  5. If you are applying for University-wide scholarships, visit Scholarships.

Applicant Status

New Freshmen: Students who have not attended any college, university, technical or proprietary school after graduation from high school.

Transfer: Students who have enrolled in college, university, technical or proprietary school since graduating from high school, but have not completed a baccalaureate degree.

Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEOP): High school students interested in taking college coursework should consider PSEOP.

Postbaccalaureate Student: Students who have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university other than The University of Akron and who wish to take undergraduate coursework.

Guest (Transient): Students enrolled at another institution who wish to attend The University of Akron and take coursework under guest status, then return to their home institution. Proceed to the Guest Application.

Special Student: Students who do not qualify for regular admission to the University or who are participating in a special short-term academic program. The student must obtain permission to enroll under the Special Student Category from an admissions counselor. A special student may not take courses for more than two consecutive semesters unless official status as a regular student is gained.

From the day the last application supplemental material is received, you should receive your admit decision letter in the following timeframe:
