Safety

Rest assured that we do everything in our power to keep our students safe and healthy. We have our own police department to provide round-the-clock patrol protection to the campus, parking lots, residence halls and Greek houses. Our 32 full-time officers are commissioned by the state of Ohio with full law enforcement authority. The officers also receive specialized training in handling underage drinking, fire emergencies, medical crises and dealing with young adults. The department holds crime prevention and substance abuse workshops for interested students. The UA police also will help students with battery jumps, flat tires and similar, noncrime problems.

A student escort service is available to anyone who needs it - seven nights a week. Students just dial the service and trained Campus Patrol Escorts will accompany them to any campus building or lot.

There are emergency phones located all across campus, on walkways and in parking decks and residence halls. All are activated simply when someone picks up the receiver.

Crime statistics from UA Police records are available at the department's Web site at www.uakron.edu/police or by calling 330-972-6181.
