Most students planning to transfer are interested in how their college credits will be accepted at The University of Akron. If you have taken college level coursework these are some general rules in order for credit to be accepted. You also will want to know if you will be earning specific course credit, credit toward completing your general education credits, or general elective college credit.
Your transfer credits will be evaluated upon your application and admission to UA. You will receive a copy of your general education evaluation from the Office of the Dean of University College at the time of your admission.
Your major courses will be evaluated by your college office.
For more information regarding the transfer of credits, see
Transfer Services.
Recently, the Ohio Board of Regents established a system that standardizes credits among Ohio's public colleges and universities into "transfer modules." Students who successfully complete modules at one school will automatically receive credit for them at their new school.
Also, the state has set up the
Course Applicability System, an online guide to help students, faculty, advisers and others to evaluate their current credits and how they might be used in pursuit of an academic degree at the different Ohio schools.
