Freshmen students are currently enrolled in high school and planning to graduate this school year (including students in postsecondary enrollment options programs) or students who have graduated from high school or received a High School Equivalence Diploma (GED) and have not attended any other college or university.

Honors College - Students interested in the Honors College should apply both to The University of Akron and the Honors College.

Home Schooled Student – In addition to the five steps listed above, please submit:

  • A transcript of studies and supporting documents such as book lists and other related documentation
  • A signed copy of the superintendent’s exemption letter

PSEOP Application Deadline Dates:

  • Oct. 15 for spring semester enrollment
  • May 15 for fall semester enrollment

Students enrolled at another institution that plan to attend The University of Akron and take coursework under guest status, then return to their home institution.

Requirements

To be eligible for guest student status at UA, you must be in good academic standing at your home institution. We recommend that you receive written permission from your home institution prior to registering at UA.

Guest students are limited to two consecutive semesters of enrollment at UA. After two consecutive semesters, you must reapply for admission.

How to enroll

After you receive your admit letter, follow these steps to complete your enrollment.

Step 1 Get your UANet ID and password by calling the Zip Support Desk at 330-972-6888. Your UANet ID is your University network ID and gives you access to online registration and other features. You will need your student ID from your admit letter.
Step 2 Register for classesonline using ZipLine.
  • Online registration begins on the date listed in your admit letter. Find tutorials for online registration.
  • If you would like to register for a class that requires a prerequisite, you must register in person and present a Transient Permission Form from your home institution. In-person registration is done at the Student Services Center in Simmons Hall.
Step 3 Pay your tuition and fees. While you are not eligible for financial assistance from UA, you may qualify for aid from your home institution. View UA’s payment options.

Completing your guest coursework

After you complete your coursework at UA, request official academic transcripts be sent from UA to your home institution.

  1. Log on to ZipLine.
  2. Go to the Student Center.
  3. In the Academics section, select "Transcript: Request Official Transcript."
  4. Select Option "Grade posting." Or, check ZipLine to be sure grades have been posted before ordering your transcript. Then use "Normal Processing" option.
  5. Enter the address for your home institution. An official transcript will be sent directly to your home institution.

If you decide to transfer to UA to complete your degree, you will need to reapply as a transfer student.

Transfer students have attended or are attending a college or university after graduating from high school and would like to transfer to The University of Akron.

Submit official transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions of higher learning that you've attended. Your transcripts are required to be signed or certified by the Registrar.

If you have earned fewer than 12 semester hours or 15 quarter hours, please submit your high school transcripts. If you're under age 21, please submit ACT or SAT scores along with your high school transcripts.

Students who have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university other than The University of Akron and plan to take undergraduate coursework.
Students who are interested in taking graduate coursework may contact Graduate School.
