Out-of-State Scholarship Program

The University of Akron offers to qualified non-Ohio residents scholarship awards that are applied to the out-of-state tuition charges. Read on to learn more about the Akron Advantage Blue and Gold Awards:

► Akron Advantage Blue Award

The Akron Advantage Blue Award is an annual $6,000 scholarship.

In addition to being a non-resident of Ohio, first-time, full-time freshman at The University, students from one of the 49 states outside of Ohio and all United States territories must meet one of the following criteria:

  • High school GPA of at least 3.0 (based on sixth semester transcript)
  • ACT test score of at least 21 or SAT score of at least 1000 (math reading)
  • Dependent of a UA alumnus/alumna

►  Akron Advantage Gold Award

The Akron Advantage Gold Award is an annual $10,000 scholarship

In addition to being a non-resident of Ohio, first-time, full-time freshman at The University, students from one of the 49 states outside of Ohio and all United States territories must meet two of the following criteria:

  • High school GPA of at least 3.5 (based on sixth semester transcript)
  • Top 10 percent of high school class
  • ACT test score of at least 27 or SAT score of at least 1200 (math and reading)

Students who meet the Gold Award criteria are ineligible to also receive the Blue Award.
