Class notes

Ronald B. Lee, BS ’74, JD ’78, a partner in the Cleveland law office of Roetzel & Andress, was named a 2015 Ohio Super Lawyer in the area of class actions by Super Lawyers Magazine. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations.

Eric B. Blashford, BS ’88, will use his extensive manufacturing experience with large industrial products as the new president of Broadwind Towers Inc. He joined Broadwind Energy Inc. in October 2014.

 

C. Randy Cole, BS ’89, began as executive director of the Ohio Turnpike Commission in December 2014. He will be responsible for managing the turnpike’s day-to-day operations.

 

Amy DelpAmy L. Delp, BSN ’89, was promoted to vice president of quality, inclusion and clinical operations at MetroHealth in December 2014. She began her career at MetroHealth in 1996, serving in numerous capacities. Her most recent role was assistant vice president of performance improvement and patient support services.

 

JacksonPaul L. Jackson, BSA ’85, JD ’88, a partner in the Akron law office of Roetzel & Andress, was named a 2015 Ohio Super Lawyer in the field of employee benefits by Super Lawyers Magazine. SchraderBruce R. Schrader II, BA ’84, was named a 2015 Ohio Super Lawyer in the field of creditor debtor rights by Super Lawyers Magazine. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. Schrader is a partner in the Akron law office of Roetzel & Andress.

BennettJennifer A. Bennett, AAS ’91, BS ’91, has joined the Ohio law firm of Day Ketterer. Bennett is a skilled workers’ compensation attorney working to defend self-insured and state-funded employers in workers’ compensation claims.

 

ImbrognoMarc M. Imbrogno, BS ’96, was named director of materials engineering for Mar-Bal Inc., responsible for all facets of the materials engineering department. He will drive research and materials development, support program launch implementations, and inspire the company’s long-range materials technology pipeline.

 

Edward S. Miller Jr., BSChE '92, is a recent recipient of DuPont’s prestigious Bolton/Carothers Innovative Science Award, which recognizes those who create and apply science and technology in ways that generate significant and sustained industry and society impact. A longtime DuPont employee, Miller has worked for many years in a joint venture with Aquachile to produce the Verlasso salmon, a sustainable premium farmed salmon. He was honored previously with an engineering excellence award for his work on a feed component. Miller resides in Hockessin, Del.

 

Steve L. Renner, BS ’92, was promoted to principal at Rea & Associates in November 2014. He serves in the company’s Philadelphia, Ohio, office and specializes in retirement plan administration. Rea & Associates is an Ohio-based accounting and business consulting firm.

 

Michelle M. Rosette, BSED ’94, was honored as the 2014 Outstanding Art Teacher for the East Central Ohio Region by the Ohio Art Education Association. Rosette has been teaching in the Canton Local School district since 2001.

 

Dawn M. Turner, BSED ’96, joined the Oklahoma City Thunder as director of marketing and brand management. Turner is a veteran marketing strategist who will guide all Thunder marketing, advertising, and promotional initiatives in her new role.

 

ValenteSharon Valente, PhD ’96, associate provost for educational effectiveness at Marymount California University since June 2013, has been selected to serve as a degree qualifications profile (DQP)/tuning coach. She is one of only 11 people invited to join this inaugural group of coaches and was selected for her exceptional ability to help advance wider and deeper use of the DQP and tuning on campuses. In addition, Valente has been named director of conference special programs for the Eastern Education Research Association (EERA). Created in 1977, the EERA is a regional organization for educational professionals interested in disseminating educational research for the overall purpose of improving education for all.

 

Kacy C. Wells, BSA ’91, is the co-founder of GO2 Advertising, the GOLD WINNER in the digital campaign category at the 2014 National Healthcare Marketing IMPACT Awards. The Twinsburg, Ohio-based advertising agency won the top honors for its EyeMed Interactive Roadmap microsite.

Jami Lynn Bishop, JD ’03, MT ’04, has been appointed magistrate in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. The Barberton, Ohio, native served as a magistrate for Trumbull County Probate Court Judge Thomas A. Swift for five years before her appointment. In her new position, she handles civil cases for Judges W. Wyatt McKay and Peter Kontos of the common pleas court and hears nonjury trials.

 

Kyle Kutuchief, MPA ’06, was named interim program director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Kutuchief, who previously served The University of Akron as a director of development, was a local consultant with the Knight Foundation prior to his appointment.

 

Sandy L. Lende, BS ’03, was promoted to manager at the Wooster, Ohio, office of Rea & Associates, an Ohio-based accounting and business consulting firm. Lende has worked at Rea since 2004 and specializes in individual and corporate tax.

 

David L. Sawicki, MS ’00, a certified professional geologist with Professional Service Industries Inc., was appointed principal consultant for the phase I environmental site assessment services line. Sawicki has more than 25 years of diverse environmental experience.

 

Shaun C. Schweitzer, AAB ’01, was promoted by the Akron Beacon Journal to the senior leadership position of vice president of circulation and production. Schweitzer has been with the newspaper since 1997.

BayleyElsonne N. Bayley, JD ’12, passed the State of Ohio Bar Examination and was sworn in as a practicing attorney with the Ohio Supreme Court in November 2014. Bayley assists clients on estate planning, probate, and trust administration issues at the law firm of Stark & Knoll.

 

Jacqui Flaherty-Ricchiuti, BA ’11, was named chief executive officer of Keep Akron Beautiful, a nonprofit organization established in 1981 to implement a comprehensive litter prevention, recycling promotion, and beautification program for the city of Akron.

 

KlineMelissa M. Kline, BSN ’11, joined MetroHealth in 1998 and was promoted to vice president of nursing and associate chief nursing officer. While at MetroHealth, she’s held positions as a clinical nurse, assistant nurse manager, nurse manager, and director of nursing operations.

 

Erin E. White-Meece, BS ’11, passed all four parts of the CPA exam on her way to becoming a Certified Public Accountant. White-Meece is a senior accountant with Rea & Associates, an Ohio-based accounting and business consulting firm.
