A generous gift from Kenneth E. Taylor, president of Ohio CAT, means University of Akron business students are one step closer to a more dynamic and rewarding learning experience. Earmarked for the College of Business Administration, Taylor’s gift delivers a big boost to the College’s goal of providing students with the competitive edge they need to be successful.

In appreciation for Taylor’s generosity and his extraordinary impact on higher education, The University of Akron awarded him Honorary Alumnus status. The honor was marked with a special gathering on September 30, where Taylor celebrated with his wife, Martha, and numerous UA graduates employed by Ohio CAT.
“At Ohio CAT, we have long depended on and appreciated the quality education administered by UA’s College of Business Administration, particularly in professional selling,” said Taylor, whose business is a top-10 Caterpillar dealer in North America. “I’m pleased, therefore, for the opportunity to help ensure this tradition of excellence continues for many more generations.”
The Ronald R. and Diane C. Fisher Institute for Professional Selling at The University of Akron is one of only 13 certified, professional sales programs in the world and a leader in shaping the next generation of sales professionals.
Taylor also praised the University’s connection to businesses and industries throughout the region and its successful efforts to develop graduates who are in demand. “The University of Akron is not just a place to earn a degree,” he said, “it’s an institution that listens to the needs of companies and educates students to be successful, which benefits graduates – and the organizations they serve.”
According to Ravi Krovi, dean of the College of Business Administration, The University of Akron owes a great deal to people like Ken Taylor. “Along with his philanthropy, he has given of his time and expertise on our advisory board,” said Krovi. “He has been a true partner in the College’s mission of providing an exceptional and relevant education.”
“I’m so grateful for this recognition,” added Taylor (who holds two degrees) on the occasion of his Honorary Alumnus award, “and I’m proud to call myself a Zip.”
Likewise, The University of Akron family is grateful for Taylor’s altruism and exceedingly proud of the opportunity to call him one of their own.
