What is the Roo Crew?

The Akron Experience is our journey to success. It brings together all of the exceptional resources of The University of Akron and its community and business partners to create a personalized path for each student, from the first day on campus through a lifetime of achievement.

The Akron Experience is guided by a passionate commitment to each student, with faculty and staff dedicated to helping students find their own way and stay on track. It creates connections between classroom, research labs and career-related opportunities that broaden horizons and prepare students for jobs or advanced degrees. Classroom insights are connected to real world problem solving to ensure that academic achievements link to personal and professional success after graduation. Learn more about the Akron Experience.

  • It is a way to have alumni assist with:
    • Recruiting potential students to the University
    • Providing opportunities for student success
    • Assisting with job placement for UA graduates
  • A way for alumni to stay connected to their alma mater

Who makes up the Roo Crew?

  • Over 500 alumni, friends, parents of current students and community members take part in admissions visitation days, speaking to student organizations, speaking to classes and much more.

How can you promote the Roo Crew?

  • Familiarize yourself with the survey and the various volunteer opportunities that it contains
  • Encourage interested alumni and parents of current students to contact the Alumni Office directly or via e-mail at roocrew@uakron.edu for more details
  • Become a member of the Roo Crew to be able to actively promote the benefits of joining this new initiative!
