A Partnership in the Making: Polymer College Welcomes Delegation from Malaysia
October 2nd was not just another Monday at The University of Akron. UA hosted a delegation of six representatives from Malaysia, all of whom are part of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA). The NCIA is an organization dedicated to facilitating socio-economic growth in Malaysia, and now they are tasked with building what will be called “The Rubber City” on a 1,254-acre plot of land near the border of Malaysia and Thailand.
New Polymer Additive Manufacturing Course Delivers Cutting-Edge Technology To Industry
The College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, as one of the top polymer programs in the world, is helping industry keep pace with cutting-edge technology. Akron Polymer Technology Services (APTS) is utilizing the facilities of the Goodyear Polymer Center to provide modeling and additive manufacturing training to industry professionals.
APTS provides customized training to team from Indonesia
Akron Polymer Technology Services (APTS) is currently hosting a team of ten scientists and engineers from Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT). The team traveled from Indonesia to receive customized training in rubber technology from APTS instructors. The customized training, being held over a three week period, includes topics ranging from raw materials for elastomer compounding to aircraft tire retreading technology.
Bridgestone utilizes Make it in America grant to subsidize Polymer Training
Akron Polymer Technology Services (APTS) networks with companies, economic development organizations, government agencies, and other UA groups to provide training opportunities to industrial clients. Dr. Jelynn Stinson, Manager of APTS, led the effort to implement the effective utilization of Make it in America (MIIA) training grants this year by Bridgestone employees.

As of June 1, 2016, Akron Polymer Training Center (APTC) and Applied Polymer Research Center (APRC) have merged. The combined centers will go forward together under the name Akron Polymer Technology Services (APTS).
