Cadet Lieutenant Colonel (c/LTC) Eric Wasek

 

c/LTC Wasek is from Imperial, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from West Allegheny High School in 2013. While in high school, he was a cadet in the Marine Corps J.R.O.T.C. program and earned the rank of Cadet 1st Lieutenant. During his senior year, c/LTC Wasek was awarded a 3 year AD National Army R.O.T.C. scholarship to the University of Akron. In May of 2017, he will graduate and commission as an Aviation Officer with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Military Science.

 

c/LTC Wasek has held various leadership positions within the University of Akron Army R.O.T.C. program. During his MSI year, he served as a Section Leader and the Overall Class Leader for the MSI class. During his MSII year, c/LTC Wasek served as the Peer Mentor for the incoming MSI cadets to the Akron Army R.O.T.C. Program. Following his MSII year, he was selected for a CULP mission to Bulgaria, where he served as the team’s Public Affairs Officer. He has been a member of the Ranger Challenge Team, Best Ranger Team, Ranger Company, and Summit Rifles for 3 years. During his MSIII year, c/LTC Wasek served as the NCOIC for the Ranger Challenge Team, the OIC for the Best Ranger Team, and the Executive Officer for Ranger Company. He has also attended and graduated from Advance Camp at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, as well as, Cadet Troop Leadership Training (CTLT) with the 307th BSB/1stBCT/82nd ABN DIV at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in August of 2016.

 

In addition to c/LTC Wasek’s commitments within the R.O.T.C. program, he has served as a Flight Operations Intern in the Operations Divisions of both the 171st Air Refueling Wing (PANG), as well as, the 911th Air lift Wing (USAFR) in the summers of 2014 and 2015 respectively. While serving in these positions, c/LTC wasek also completed simultaneous internships with Representative Mark Mustio of Pennsylvania’s 44th Legislative District and Congressman Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District in the summers of 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Cadet Major (c/MAJ) Kyle Turner


Cadet Turner, born in Akron, OH graduated from Firestone High School in 2010. Cadet Turner enrolled in the University of Akron in the fall of 2012. He is currently a recipient of the University of Akron’s Academic Dean's List for Academic Achievement. He did not enter the Army ROTC program until fall of 2014. Cadet Turner is currently a Management Information Systems major and recipient of the GFRD (Guaranteed Force Reserve Duty Scholarship). Cadet Turner is in the 1-145 Armor Regiment C Co. He will graduate in the summer of 2016. Cadet Turner will be pursuing a National Guard career as a Signal Officer.

Cadet Command Sergeant Major (c/CSM) Jeremiah E. Probenproben17

 

c/CSM Proben is from West Salem, Ohio, where he graduated from Northwestern High School in 2012. While in high school, he was a varsity member of the football, wrestling, and track team. His senior year of high school c/CSM Proben enlisted as a 91E in the United States Army Reserve. In December of 2017, he will graduate and commission as an Army Officer with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minor in Military Science.

 

c/CSM Proben graduated from Basic Combat Training at fort Benning Georgia in August 2012 as a member of his rotation’s honor platoon. In September 2012 he attended the Army’s Machining and Welding school at Fort Lee Virginia where he received recognition from the post Commander for his high physical aptitude and academic achievement.During his Advanced Individual Training c/CSM Proben received an army achievement medal for meritorious service, and an army achievement medal for exceptional physical performance. In february 2013 he graduated from the Army Machining and Welding school as a distinguished Honor Graduate. After successful completion of entry training c/CSM Proben has served as the Platoon Leader for a reserve distribution platoon, and currently serves as the acting Executive Officer for the 463rd ENG BN FSC.

 

c/CSM Proben has held various leadership positions within the University of Akron Army R.O.T.C. program. During his MSI year, he served as a Section Leader. Following his MSII year, he was selected for a CULP mission to Hungary, where he was in charge of writing AARs for individual events as well as compiling an overall mission AAR. He has been a member of Ranger Company, and Summit Rifles for 3 years, and the Ranger Challenge Team for 4 years. During his MSIII year, c/CSM Proben served as the Commanding Officer for Summit Rifles. He has also attended and graduated from Advance Camp at Ft. Knox, KY, and served as a leader trainer for Basic Camp, in August of 2016.


Cadet Personal and Administrative Officer (S-1)marsh17bio

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) William Marsh

c/CPT William Marsh was born in Cleveland Ohio and lived in North Royalton for most of his life. He came to the University of Akron in the Fall 2013 pursuing his degree in Education with the intent to teach high school history. c/CPT Marsh enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard that same semester. He attended and completed Basic Combat Training the summer of 2014. c/CPT Marsh will graduate and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Winter of 2017. c/CPT Marsh looks to branch Active Duty, Air Defense Artillery or Adjutant General.

c/CPT Marsh attended The Sabalauski Air Assault school in the Summer of 2015. U.S Army Air Assault School is a 10-day course designed to prepare Soldiers for insertion, evacuation and pathfinder missions that call for the use of multipurpose transportation and assault helicopters. After successful completion, of course and proven proficiency in rappelling and sling load techniques, he was awarded his air assault badge.

His awards and decorations include Army Physical Fitness Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), Army Achievement Medal and Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Assault Badge.

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) CJ Dixie

c/CPT Cj Dixie was born in Cherry Point, North Carolina and was raised in Sandusky, Ohio. c/CPT Dixie spends most of his time getting involved in the community as much as he can by volunteering for, The Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome, Homeless Shelters, different events with ROTC, and The University of Akron. If c/CPT Dixie is not going to school or engaged in community service projects, he enjoys time spent with his family.

c/CPT Dixie came to the University of Akron in the Spring of 2013 pursuing a degree in Political Science with minors in Law Enforcement and Military Science to increase his ability to obtain a career within the Federal Government. c/CPT Dixie joined the Army National Guard in October of 2013, one semester after he started college. He completed Basic Training in the Summer of 2014. c/CPT Dixie will graduate and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Fall of 2017. c/CPT Dixie is projected to branch in either the Finance Corp or the Signal Corp of the National Guard or Army Reserve.

Cadet Major (c/MAJ) Brandon F. Jones

c/MAJ Jones is from Canton, Ohio where he graduated from Perry High School in 2013. During his time in high school, he participated in the Army J.R.O.T.C. program and played various sports. During his first semester as a student at the University of Akron, c/MAJ Jones earned a 3.5 year scholarship for R.O.T.C. He will commission in May of 2017 as an active duty Field Artillery Officer with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Criminology/Law Enforcement with a minor in Military Science.

 

c/MAJ Jones has been involved in various programs in R.O.T.C. including Ranger Challenge, Ranger Company, Summit Rifles, and Air Rifle. During his time he has held the positions of c/1SG of Summit Rifles and OIC of FLRC Lanes conducted with the College of Business. In addition, he graduated from Advanced Camp in Fort Knox, KY as well as attended follow on training at Fort Jackson, SC for Drill Cadet Leadership Training (DCLT). During the Fall of 2016, c/MAJ Jones competed for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge where he earned the Gold Badge.

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Jonathan SaucierIMG_4090

CDT Saucier is an SMP Cadet training with HHC-Company 145th Armored Regiment in the Ohio National Guard and the 42nd Ohio Volunteer Battalion. CDT Saucier enlisted into the Kentucky National Guard in 2013 as an 11B (Infantryman) before conducting an interstate transfer to the Ohio Guard. CDT Saucier first attended the University of the Cumberlands where he played football as a wide receiver and participated in ROTC MSI classes before transferring and receiving the GRFD Scholarship at The University of Akron. CDT Saucier is a Middle Level Education Major in English/Social Studies and plans to get a Masters to become a certified Principal. Upon commissioning, CDT Saucier will become a US Army Infantry Officer in the Ohio National Guard and attend Ranger School at the completion of IBOLC. A resident of Hudson, Ohio CDT Saucier attended Western Reserve Academy and is the eldest son of John and Pamela Saucier. His siblings include Hannah, Joshua and Brianna, the latter being interested in joining ROTC in the freshman year of college.

CDT Saucier is the recipient of multiple awards to include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal and wears the Infantryman Blue Cord for the completion of Infantry AIT. CDT Saucier has received numerous coins from Lieutenant Colonel’s, most notably for his actions and performance during simulated combat training at the National Training Center of Fort Irwin. CDT Saucier also was ranked 3rd out of over 175 cadet’s in his company during CLC training in the summer months.

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Jacob Biggie

c/CPT Biggie was born in Clearwater, FL and raised in Norton, Ohio and is a Perry High School alumni. He came to the University of Akron in Spring 2014 pursuing a bachelor’s degree Emergency Management & Homeland Security with an associate's in Criminal Justice Technology and Public Safety.

 

Cadet Biggie enlisted in the National Guard in January of 2012 and attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training for Military Police at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He is currently a cadet serving in the 583rd Military Police Company. Cadet Biggie will graduate and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Spring of 2018. He will be pursuing active duty as an Military Police Officer.

His awards and decorations include: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, Ohio BCT Ribbon and Army Achievement Medal.

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Nathaniel S. Wakefield

c/CPT Wakefield is from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In 2010 he graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School where he participated in soccer, track, cross country, marching band, men’s chorus, A Capella choir, jazz band, and show choir. He was also in two musicals: Thoroughly Modern Millie and Footloose. He was also a member of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp (USNSCC) where he acquired the rank of Chief Petty Officer. c/CPT Wakefield was offered a 4 year AD National Scholarship to the University of Toledo his senior year of High School. In May of 2017 he will graduate and commission as a Chemical Officer with a degree in Political Science, Criminal Justice track and a minor in Military Science.

During the spring of 2011 c/CPT Wakefield joined the Ohio National Guard as a Military Police soldier. He graduated Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Caroline in the summer of 2011, and he then graduated Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood in the summer of 2012.

c/CPT Wakefield also attended Stark State College of Technology from the fall of 2012 until the spring of 2014. In the fall of 2014 he transferred to the University of Akron and then joined the R.O.T.C. program in the spring of 2015.

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Kylee Savin

c/CPT Savin is from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in 2013. She enrolled in the fall of 2013 to The University of Akron with a 3.5 year AD scholarship to the Army ROTC Program. In May of 2017, she will graduate and commission as an Ordnance Officer with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Supply Chain/Operations Management and a minor in Military Science.

Cadet Savin attended the Basic Airborne Course in Ft. Benning, GA and graduated in July of 2015. She also attended Cadet Troop Leadership Training (CTLT) in Ft. Bragg, NC with the 11th Quartermaster Company and the 1-7 ADA BN.

c/CPT Savin’s awards include: Parachutist Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, and Dean’s List Award for Academics.

 


 

Cadet Civil Affairs Officer (S-5)king17bio

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Steven King

c/CPT King is from Fredericksburg, Ohio, where he graduated from Waynedale High School in 2013. He played the Trombone and Baritone in both Jazz Band and Concert Band. c/CPT King is an Eagle Scout as well as a Scoutmaster in Buckeye Council. He enrolled in classes at Wayne Community College in Orville, Ohio and attended school there for two full years. After his second year at Wayne Community College he enlisted in the Ohio National Guard as an Infantryman (11b).

c/CPT King attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia from May of 2015 until his graduation in September of that same year. Directly after returning back to Ohio c/CPT King started classes at Akron University’s Main Campus, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Integrated Social Studies, History as a Second Major, and Military Science as a minor. After contracting with the Army ROTC program that same semester c/CPT King became involved with Summit Rifles, Ranger Company, and Cannon Crew. In addition he participated in leading civilians through the FLRC Lanes conducted with the College of Business at Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center (CRJMTC). Currently c/CPT King is assigned to the 1-148th Infantry Regiment as an SMP Cadet. Upon Graduation c/CPT King will Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.

c/CPT King’s awards include: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Marksmanship Award, and Dean’s List Award for Academics.

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Angelina Miller

Cadet Miller is from Akron, Ohio where she attended  Archbishop Hoban High School and graduated in 2013. Cadet Miller enrolled in the fall of 2013 at The University of Akron with a 3.5 year scholarship to the Army ROTC program. Cadet Miller will graduate in the fall of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and will be pursuing an active duty career as an Military Intelligence Officer.

Cadet Miller has served as NCOIC, and is now serving as the OIC, of Cannon Crew. She has actively participated in Color Guard, Summit Rifles and Ranger company her first two years in ROTC. She is a large supporter of many volunteer organizations including: Haven of Rest, Harvest Home, Akron Canton Food Bank and many underprivileged child care centers, where she spends large amounts of her time volunteering.

Cadet Miller’s awards include: APFT Platinum Award, APFT Gold Award, Academic Excellence Award, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Award and Dean’s List.
