Kate Budd received her BA (hons.) degree from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, Scotland (1990) and her MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (1995). Kate Budd has received two Individual Excellence Awards from the Ohio Arts Council and her work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibits in the United Kingdom, the Mid-west and Texas. Solo exhibits include “Thorny” at Rudolph Poissant Gallery, Houston, Texas, “Waxworks” at the Sculpture Center in Cleveland, Ohio, “Kate Budd: On Site Ohio” at the Akron Art Museum and “Honey” at The College of Wooster. Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, New Art Examiner and Sculpture magazines.
Before coming to the University of Akron, Kate taught in the sculpture department at the University of Texas in Austin for three years. She is now an Associate Professor of Art at the Myers School of Art where she has taught 3-D Design and Sculpture since 1998.
