Workshops provide a plethora of information to help you build your personal skills base. Some workshops help you assess your personal interests in such a way that career guidance is inevitable.

Our "Career Options for . . . Majors/Minors" series is especially helpful to students who have not yet declared a major. By attending these panel discussions and interacting with alumni holding degrees from various Arts and Sciences departments, students can gain formidable information and insight into career possibilities previously unconsidered.

Students solidly entrenched in a major also can gain from attending these workshops. Information acquired at these sessions may help you better appreciate the personal marketing advantages in securing a complementary minor or certificate through another department. By talking with alums who hold degrees specific to your department, you can learn how to best use your academic background to secure that coveted position or to explore completely new avenues in our ever-changing, highly technological society.

So plan to attend as many workshops as possible, as early in your academic career as possible regardless of whether or not you can attend the entire session. You never can tell what will be discussed during any particular segment--what wonderful information you can gain!
