"I would not have fulfilled my internship requirements for my Master's program without the help and support of the A&S Careers Program.  As an out-of-state graduate student, I was unfamiliar with the Akron and greater northeast area of Ohio, making the hunt for potential internship placements challenging. My masters being in something as specific as Fine Arts in Creative Writing made this search further challenging. Truly wanting a meaningful experience and not just one to fulfill credits, I approached the A&S Careers Program looking for help. Though not typically serving graduate students, they listened to my plight for placement and accomodated my needs, agreeing to take me into the program. 

From the very first meeting to the very last, they were invested in my success. They engaged in open discussions with me about what kind of internship I was looking for and what I hoped to get out of it. They reviewed my resumes and cover letters in detail and provided honest, polite, constructive feedback. They nurtured my professional development throughout the internship with regular check-ins and the review of a comprehensive employment portfolio. Through all of these steps, they learned who I was as a young professional and were just as much a part of the sucessfulness of my internship experience as the internship itself.  

Most importantly, they perfectly placed me with a company that made the most of the skills and knowledge I already had, while also being one that would challenge me and provide new learning opportunities. They placed me with a supervisor who matched my personality, work values, and internship goals. Their placement provided me with an experience that turned into freelance employment, a publication, and a long-lasting closeness with my supervisor.  

There is no denying that working with A&S Careers Program was one of the best parts of my graduate experience. I can only hope that other students will utilize their program and give them their absolute best, because they give their absolute best back."
