"Practical experience is essential in any career field.  It shows potential employers and/or graduate school administrators that you are willing to go beyond your required course load to gain hands-on training in your career field.

For me, it was crucial to have some sort of practial experience on my resume in order to be accepted to graduate school.  During my interview at MSPP, I was asked more about my internship than the courses I completed!

Internships not only make a resume stand out, but they also can influence career decisions.  After gaining experience in the field of psychology, I knew I wanted to become a clinical psychologist.  My internship ignited a passion for psychology that the classroom setting could not match."
