Athletic Training Education Program

Mission Statement

The mission of the Athletic Training Education Program at UA is to prepare competent entry-level Certified Athletic Trainers who will be eligible for certification and licensure, and will be prepared for employment as athletic trainers in their chosen allied health career path. Students will complete challenging course work and be provided numerous clinical rotations with physically active populations and allied health professionals which are designed to provide enhanced learning experiences.

Program Goals

The goal of the program is to provide athletic training students comprehensive training through coursework and clinical experiences in the areas of:
  • Risk Management and Injury Prevention
  • Pathology of Injury and Illness
  • Orthopedic Clinical Examination and Diagnosis
  • Medical Conditions and Disabilities
  • Acute Care of Injuries and Illnesses
  • Therapeutic Modalities
  • Conditioning and Rehabilitative Exercise
  • Pharmacology
  • Psychosocial Intervention and Referral
  • Nutritional Aspects of Injuries and Illnesses
  • Health Care Administration
  • Professional Development and Responsibility
