About the Athletic Training Program
The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is a nationally accredited program designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the field of athletic training. This is a rigorous program comprised of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory learning, and clinical experience.
Students will earn a Bachelor of Science degree at the completion of this program, in addition they will be eligible for the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification Exam and State of Ohio licensure.
The University of Akron's Athletic Training Education Program staff is comprised of certified athletic trainers with more than 80 years' combined athletic training experience. This extensive and diverse background provides for a unique and comprehensive educational experience.
Through classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, clinical experiences, and one-on-one educational opportunities, these staff members are dedicated to producing quality athletic trainers, ready to enter the field and make an impact.
The University of Akron has a long tradition of educating athletic trainers, to be productive members of the profession. University of Akron graduates can be found in high schools, colleges, industrial settings, clinics, and serving with professional sports teams, both locally and across the country.
The ATEP is housed within the Department of Sports Science and Wellness Education, a department of the College of Education.
