Mary Atwood, curricular and instructional studies, and Brian Pendleton, sociology, were awarded $124,353 by the U.S. Department of Education through the Ohio Department of Education for an Even Start Literacy Program.

Richard Aynes

Richard Aynes, law, was appointed in July to the Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education by the Supreme Court of Ohio. He also has been appointed to a new term as a member of the American Bar Association Questionnaire Committee. In August, his conference paper, “The Continuing Importance of Congressman John A. Bingham and the 14th Amendment” was published in the Akron Law Review (2003), Volume 36. Aynes participated September in a National Public Radio discussion of Ohio’s symbolic re-ratification of the 14th Amendment.

Dana Cole

Dana Cole, law, spoke at a seminar hosted by the National Employment Lawyers Association in Atlanta on Oct. 18 titled “The Theatre of Reality: Trial Skills for the Plaintiff’s Employment Lawyer.” Cole also has been invited to be a teaching team member for the third consecutive year in Harvard Law School’s Winter Trial Advocacy Workshop, which will be held in January.
