The University community is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open Phase I of the Student Union on Feb. 26 at 12:45 p.m. in the facility’s third floor atrium. Building tours will be available from noon to 2 p.m.
Speakers for the occasion will be Luis M. Proenza, president; Dr. Mark Apte, chairman of the Board of Trustees; Ted Curtis, vice president of capital planning and facilities management; and Marlesa Roney, vice president of student affairs.
When completed, the Student Union, at 198,000 square feet, will be 20 percent larger than Gardner Student Center. Phase I represents about one-half of the total space. Construction of Phase II will be finished by fall 2004.
