Jack Sahl, law, was interviewed on Feb. 4 by Akron radio station WAKR-AM about the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s ruling that made St. Vincent-St. Mary basketball player LeBron James ineligible to finish the season.

Jeffrey Samuels

Jeffrey Samuels, law, presented a paper titled “Decisions Affecting PTO Trademark Practice” at the Patent Trademark Office Conference on Dec. 2, sponsored by Intellectual Property Owners, Inc., and held in Washington, D.C. The paper will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Patent and Trademark Office Society. He also moderated a program on Intellectual Property Ethics, co-sponsored by the School of Law and the Akron Bar Association, in Independence on Dec. 9.

Jesse Marquette, Center for Policy Studies, was awarded $227,050 in Urban University Program Linkage Funds for Fiscal Year 2002-2003 by the Ohio Board of Regents. He also received $14,500 from the OBR through Cleveland State University for “Home Computer and Internet Access Urban University Program” and $4,000 from the city of Akron for “Summit Poll 2002.”

Molly O'Brien

Molly O’Brien, law, served as chair/discussant for a paper presentation session, “Money Talks: School Finance Reform,” at the American Educational Studies Association Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Nov. 1. She also performed “The Ballad of Nathan DeRolph: An Original Song About a School Finance Lawsuit” at the meeting. On Nov. 15, she spoke to a group of Latin American judges and prosecutors on issues of ethics and anti-corruption enforcement. O’Brien chaired a meeting of the American Bar Association Section on Legal Education Committee on Clinical and Skills Education, Annual Meeting Planning Sub-Committee via telephone conference on Nov. 19. She delivered a guest lecture, “Understanding Daubert in its Historical Context” at the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock on Nov. 26.
