The Othella and Hilah Dukes Memorial Scholarship was created by Dr. J. Thomas Dukes in memory of his uncle and aunt. It is open to graduate students in literature who have completed 12 or more hours in graduate literature courses at the time of application.

- Major-specific and Honors scholarships are awarded based on completion of specific requirements.
- Endowed scholarships are awarded to some students who have demonstrated history of leadership, community service or other personal factors.
