Assistant Professor – Biogeochemistry
The University of Akron invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor to carry out research in the areas of environmental and/or applied biogeochemistry. This appointment will be primarily in Biology with a joint appointment in Chemistry. We are seeking a biogeochemist with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. Applicants must have a Ph.D., with relevant post-doctoral experience preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a competitive and well-funded research program, form collaborations across disciplines, and contribute to university service. Teaching responsibilities include an upper level undergraduate course with lab in biology and/or chemistry and a graduate course in the applicant's area of specialization. Substantial start-up funds are available.

Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Neurobiology
The Department of Biology at the University of Akron invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Neurobiology. The successful candidate will contribute to the intellectual capital supporting UA's recently established doctoral program in Integrated Bioscience, an interdisciplinary program of 13 participating science and engineering departments. Candidates with interdisciplinary approaches to Neurobiology (e.g. interface with translational medicine and/or engineering) are encouraged to apply. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program. Mentoring undergraduate and graduate research is required. University, college and department service is a component of the position. The successful candidate should have past teaching experience and be able to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the area of expertise and contribute to our undergraduate professional curriculum. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and postdoctoral experience are preferred. We are looking for an individual with a demonstrated record of publication and strong prospects for successful extramural funding. Recently renovated laboratory space and significant start-up funds have been allocated for this position. Minorities and Women are encouraged to apply.
