The University of Akron Office of Risk Management
Student Health Insurance
The University of Akron currently makes available through an outside insurance agent, Leonard Insurance Services, a student health and basic accident plan to all registered students with six of more credit hours, Doctoral students, ELI students, and other special academic program students. It is a voluntary program that a student may choose to enroll in if they find the coverage adequate for their needs. The University makes the coverage available to the students purely as a service only and does not receive commissions from the program. Leonard Insurance Services currently administers the plan and details of the plan may be obtained by contacting either Leonard Insurance Services or the Office of Risk Management . A brochure of the plan may be viewed by clicking here.
The University requires all dormitory students and all international students to maintain health and basic accident insurance coverage. International students should visit the Office of International Programs web-site for more detailed information on the requirements.
Please contact Matt Beaven (x7340) with any questions concerning the University's insurance and risk management programs.
