TubaSummer on Buchtel Common

When: Sun, July 22 2012 07:00 PM - Sun, July 22 2012 09:00 PM Building Guzzetta Hall , Outside of the building, on Buchtel Common Calendars: Faculty Staff , UA Parents , Current Students Share Digg Del.icio.us Yahoo Google Newsvine close X TubaSummer will be June 22 TubaSummer—a summertime version of Akron’s popular TubaChristmas — celebrates its 13th anniversary with a free concert on Sunday, July 22, 7 p.m., on Buchtel Common at The University of Akron. Free and open to the public, the concert will feature summer favorites performed by tuba, sousaphone, baritone and euphonium musicians from throughout the region. The concert will be on the grass amphitheater adjacent to Guzzetta Hall and near the renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s towering blue polymer sculpture. Guzzetta Hall is at 139 E. Buchtel Ave., across from E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall and the Polymer Science Building on the UA campus. The rain location is Guzzetta Recital Hall, 139 E. Buchtel Ave. Free and convenient parking will be available in the parking deck and surface lot on E. Buchtel Avenue, across from Guzzetta Hall. Audience members are invited to bring picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs. Tucker Jolly, the founder of Akron’s TubaChristmas and a professor of music at The University of Akron (UA), will conduct. Bob Jorgensen, director of University Bands, will be the guest conductor. Musicians are invited to perform. The only rehearsal is the afternoon of the performance. TubaSummer will be June 22

TubaSummer—a summertime version of Akron’s popular TubaChristmas — celebrates its 13th anniversary with a free concert on Sunday, July 22, 7 p.m., on Buchtel Common at The University of Akron.

Free and open to the public, the concert will feature summer favorites performed by tuba, sousaphone, baritone and euphonium musicians from throughout the region.
