Connecting Your Students to the Career Center

The Career Center staff partners regularly with faculty, staff, academic advisers, and other administrative support to help in promoting student success during college years and after graduation. The Center’s staff consists of highly knowledgeable professionals in career development and can help address the job search concerns and issues of students.

The Career Center offers many career-related services and activities that are of value to students. If you have an interest in bridging your students with the Career Center, here are some ideas you can do to make us more accessible to your students:

• Copy and paste Career Services information into your syllabus (flier soon to be posted)
• Add a link to the Career Center to your course Springboard site - http://www.uakron.edu/career/
• Bring your class to the Career Center for an overview of services and a tour of the facility (size limit of 20-25 students only)
• Request a presentation or workshop and invite a Career Center team member to visit your class as a guest speaker, or "don't cancel class" and invite a staff member to come to your class when you cannot be present (see details and form below)
• Encourage students to attend our valuable career events and workshops as well as visit our calendar regularly

Staff members are happy to come and present to UA classes and student organization meetings. Consultations are available to help you develop a customized workshop or session that meets your instructional objectives or to help you develop career development and job search content throughout your curricula.

By partnering with us, the Career Center can assist students in your class/organization with the following related to the career development and job search process:

• Assistance with self-assessment
• Translate academic, work and life experiences into resumes and professional cover letters
• Learn how to network and develop professional contacts
• Exploration of careers in a wide variety of majors and interests
