The College of Business Administration was established as a professional college of The University of Akron in 1953. Throughout our history, our focus has been on continuous improvement in the quality of our students, faculty, and programs as we carry out our mission to prepare our students to become competent and responsible business professionals and leaders.
All programs offered through the College of Business Administration are accredited by AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This prestigious body grants full accreditation only to the programs that meet their stringent requirements. Only 650 colleges in the world have achieved AACSB International accreditation. Also, the CBA is one of only 178 schools worldwide that have attained additional specialized accreditation for their accounting programs.

The College of Business Administration has a diverse group of students. Enrollment is approximately 2,800 undergraduate and graduate students from around the region, the nation and the world. Our students range from recent high school graduates, many of whom are first generation college students, to working professionals who attend classes at night.
CBA faculty members are enthusiastic, experienced, and are known for both their teaching and scholarship. In their teaching, they use a variety of techniques including the case method, seminar presentations and discussions, problem method, and skills performance (oral and written) methods, in addition to traditional lectures. Close ties with industry and the business community ensure that our faculty remain current with changing practices and technologies.
The CBA building, a four-story, 81,000-square-foot structure, opened in 1991. It has 19 classrooms, all of which are equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media equipment. Our facilities also include a computer lab with approximately 250 computers, a finance lab, direct marketing and applied marketing research labs, and a behavioral sales lab.
