Our Department

Programs: Our curriculum offers students the opportunity to pursue one of two majors: Corporate Financial Management and Financial Services.

Faculty: Our dedicated faculty are focused on delivering the best educational experience to our students. Faculty specialties include corporate financial management, investments and investment management, international finance, and banking and financial institutions. Two members of the finance faculty, Dr. Aigbe Akhigbe and Dr. Raj Aggarwal were recently ranked in the top 10% for publication quality and quantity among all finance professors in the last 50 years worldwide.

Facilities: The Finance Department is home to a unique educational facility, the Corbin Finance Lab, which allows students and professors to display comparative information across six simultaneous screens.

Certifications and Professional Licensing: Several areas of study offer the educational basis for taking qualifying examinations for the following professional designations:

Ohio State Real Estate Sales License and Ohio State Real Estate Broker License
Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation
Certified Treasury Manager (CTM)

Real Life Investment Portfolio Management: Through a generous gift from Jim and Vinita Oeschlager, students have the opportunity to work with investment decisions and market transactions with real money in real markets.

Majoring in finance offers students a wide variety of educational experiences and opportunities. Our curriculum challenges students to seek the highest levels of excellence. Finance majors leave the program schooled in the rigors of finance. They are technologically savvy, excellent communicators, and aware of the current challenges in the world of business today.

A finance degree offers many and varied career opportunities ranging from managing financial operations for a firm, to managing all types of investments both for investment firms and for individuals on and off Wall Street, to serving the financial needs of individuals.
