Academic Programs
The entrepreneurship program, which is open to all university students, allows students to learn the different facets of entrepreneurship (e.g., starting a business, buying a business or franchise, managing a family business, corporate entrepreneurship, and working for a small business or non-profit enterprise) from faculty whom have been successful entrepreneurs. This innovative program allows students to interact with entrepreneurs from the business community through guest speaking engagements, field trips, internships, and small business consulting projects.
The program offers students three different options:
- Minor in Entrepreneurship
- All students at The University of Akron can obtain a Minor in Entrepreneurship through which they can acquire entrepreneurial skills related to starting or buying a small business, working for a fast growth business or corporation, family business, franchising, or non-profit entrepreneurship.
- Certificate in Entrepreneurship
- The entrepreneurship certificate program, is open to the entire university. The program allows students to learn about the different facets of entrepreneurship (e.g., starting a business, buying a business or franchise, managing a family business, corporate entrepreneurship, working for a small business, or non-profit entrepreneurship) from faculty who have been successful entrepreneurs.
- MBA Concentration in Entrepreneurship
- The graduate program in Entrepreneurship is open to the entire university. Students enrolled in the entrepreneurship courses come from Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Music, Law, Physics, Education, Nursing, etc., in addition to Business.
