This scholarship was created in 2006 with a gift from the Reinherr’s good friends, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Loeb, to provide tuition assistance for full-time undergraduate students at The University of Akron majoring in accounting. Mr. Reinherr, who retired from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. as an Accountant/Controller in 1971, was a charter member, president and Emeritus Life Associate of the Akron Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and a charter member of the Accountants Investment Club of the Akron Chapter. It was through his participation in the Accountant’s Investment Club that he met Mr. William Loeb and where a longstanding friendship began. Mr. Loeb established this scholarship to honor his friend’s life and legacy and that of his wife, Eleanor. Applicants for the award must have financial need and be on the Dean’s List.
