Valmark Securities, Inc. created this scholarship for students majoring in Finance in the College of Business Administration at The University of Akron. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide tuition and fees assistance for a deserving student who has a career goal of personal financial planning and intends to qualify for the CFP® mark. Each year, one $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student chosen by Finance Department faculty and Valmark representatives. The scholarship is awarded for one year only, and can be awarded only once to an individual student. The Valmark scholar must satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a Finance major with a declared intent to meet the educational requirements to sit for the Certified Financial Planner® Certification Examination.
• Sophomore Requirements:
  • Cumulative GPA 3.25
  • Completed minimum 45 credit hours to date (not including current enrollment)
• Junior Requirements:
  • Cumulative GPA 3.25
  • Completed minimum 60 credit hours to date (not including current enrollment)

Applications must include an official transcript, resume, and essay.

Completed applications and supporting documentation must be submitted in hard copy format.
